Three new wind turbines on Kloosterboer site

Wind turbines will generate 60% of Kloosterboer’s energy consumption.

In the past week sustainable company ENECO started with the construction of three wind turbines on the site of the logistics service provider Kloosterboer in Vlissingen. When the wind turbines will start to turn mid-2017 they will produce approximately 12,500 megawatts hours of ‘green’ energy per year. At that time Kloosterboer will generate almost 60% of its energy consumption for this location.

The generated sustainable energy will be used by Kloosterboer directly for the power supply of the cooling installations of the 14 cold stores. Yearly Kloosterboer will achieve a CO2 reduction of 7,250 tons.

Investing in sustainability
Following the building of a first wind turbine in 2013, Kloosterboer is now yet again investing in sustainable energy. Sustainability has a high priority for the company: “As market leader in the sector of temperature controlled storage and distribution of food related products we consider it to be our responsibility to lead the way in the development of initiatives in the area of sustainable and ‘green’ entrepreneurship. This is achieved by a clever combination of transports, usage of more economical modalities and means of transport, the development of ‘green’ locations and building solar panels and wind turbines,” according to Jack Kloosterboer, director of Kloosterboer Vlissingen. The Kloosterboer wind project is one of the on-going activities that ENECO has acquired from energy company DELTA.
