This new facility will have a storage capacity of 40,000 pallets and is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The new state-of-the-art cold store will consist of the very latest technology and use 50% less energy than a conventional cold store, equivalent to a reduction of 1,551 tons of CO2 per year. This new location is set to offer Kloosterboer’s launching customer McCain a total solution by centralising the stock for Northern Europe which was previously stored at four different locations. This centralisation reduces road traffic by about 6,000 transports and 420.000 km, amounting to a reduction of 386 tons of CO2 per year.

Kloosterboer’s move in to Lelystad marks the confirmation of the city’s development as a logistic hot spot in the Netherlands.
