CargoCard soon to also be mandatory at Cool Port

As from the start of Cool Port, which is planned to be mid-May this year, Kloosterboer will be introducing the Cargo Card to get access to the site. The CargoCard has many advantages regarding better service and safety.

Why have we decided to use the Truck Appointment System and the CargoCard at Cool Port?

  1. Better service
With registration via the Kloosterboer Internet Portal we know exactly when you will be delivering or collecting your goods. As a result, we can be ready and waiting to load and schedule our team and docks accordingly. This means we can load and / or unload your truck as quickly as possible and that you do not need to stay on site any longer than is required - no more unnecessary waiting around.
  2. Safety / efficiency
The CargoCard is already common practice in the (reefer) container sector. It is used as a means of identification to gain access to the various container terminals in both Rotterdam and those inland as well as access to guarded parking in and around Rotterdam. The Alliance Sea Container Carriers, a sub sector of TLN (Transport and Logistics Netherlands), is closely involved in the development of the CargoCard. Implementing the CargoCard saves you time in terms of that spent on additional parking, getting in and out and unnecessary waiting at reception for registration and identification. In addition, it provides a 100% record of all visitors to our site, something which certainly adds to security, both yours and ours.

How does the Truck Appointment System and the CargoCard work?

  1. The transport company receives an order from its client.
  2. Using the Kloosterboer Internet Portal, the transport planner books a date and time slot for the loading and / or unloading of goods. Details regarding the truck driver, such as name or CargoCard * number as well as license plate of the truck are required.
  3. Once booked in the system, it sends an automatic confirmation message with a unique visit ID.
  4. On the appointed day and time, as selected in the booking process, the driver reports to the Cool Port pre-gate. Using automatic number plate recognition (License Plate Recognition) the booking is verified and the unique visit ID appears on the screen.
  5. The driver then presents his CargoCard in front of the post and once recognised by the system, he receives a barcode ticket indicating the dock number. The driver is then given access to the terminal.
  6. Upon arrival at the designated dock, the driver reports to a terminal employee for loading / unloading.

When?

The introduction of the Truck Appointment System and the use of the CargoCard will come in to effect as of mid-May 2017. They will be introduced at Kloosterboer Vlissingen during the fourth quarter of 2017.

Who?

It is the transport company that has been appointed to deliver or collect goods to / from Kloosterboer Cool Port on behalf of its client that is to make the entries in the Truck Appointment System. In addition, the transport company must ensure that their driver is in possession of a CargoCard. It is therefore also extremely important that the client informs their transport company about these procedures in order to avoid unnecessary delays at the terminal.

*CargoCard

The CargoCard is a personal smart card, based on biometrics. It contributes to the smooth, trouble-free and reliable logistics process. In line with other terminals in Rotterdam, Kloosterboer Cool Port is making the CargoCard mandatory for access to the site to be granted. Purchasing the CargoCard is therefore imperative and is available through Secure Logistics. The CargoCard can be used at multiple locations at the port of Rotterdam. During the initial stages of this implementation at Kloosterboer Cool Port there will be a Secure Logistics sales point present in the car parking area. This can be used for the activation of CargoCards or, if required, for the provision of a day pass.
